Ran the disk repair process and now I am getting the message "Dock quit unexpectedly". I tried reloading Dock.app from the install CD but no luck - still get the same message. Next I reinstalled Mac OS X - using the version 10.6 SL CD. Still getting the same message.

Really didn't get a clue to the problem from the error log. Don't know what else to do to resolve the problem. I need to get if fixed fast. What ever happened is sucking up all the CPU cycles and the MB Pro is running hot than a pistol with the fan screaming away.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Open /Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor and see what process is running away eating up you processor cycles.

Thanks for your reply - I already did what you suggested. I just noticed from my post I neglected to add dock.app before the is in "What ever happened is sucking".

Then if you want to be snarky then open /Your hardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ and find the files com.apple.dock.plist & com.apple.dock.db and drag those files to your Trash can (but don't empty the can just yet). Then log out and log back in. This will reset the dock and maybe it will start up now.
