The game Bookworm was downloaded from the Apple site and placed in the dock
dock and there was no problem opening and closing all day

The next day Bookworm would not open and bounced only once in the dock

I went to applications folder double clicked the icon and Bookworm opens. Again, no problem with open and close in the dock all day.

However, the next day Bookworm would'nt open and only bounce once in the dock.

I have replaced the icon in the dock

I have Leopard 10.5.3 What am I doing wrong?

The game messed up. To reset most any program is easy. Just go to the folder /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ and find the preference file of your program and toss it out.

Plus have you checked the logs OS X provides to you yet? I bet you didn't even know about that! It's easy, just navigate to /YourHardDrive/Applications/Utilities/ and launch the program Console. You will be able to see what errors are coming up on a malfunctioning program/service.
