Document Imaging Solution?

I am thinking about upgrading to OSX but I need to find a document imaging solution first. By "document imaging" I mean processing high volumes of black-and-white documents at low resolution (e.g. 20 ppm or above). Is anyone aware of drivers available (or which may soon become available) for scanners that can accomplish this sort of task? Many thanks.
