dot files and finder

I haven't had to deal with this for a while, so maybe I'm forgetting something. I can't see dot files in the finder (or more importanly, I can't select them in file open dialog boxes), after upgrading to 10.4. There is no such default anymore: com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles. How can I show all files, or be able to open a directory with a leading dot in it's name, in a file open dialog box?

Do it the easy way and download TinkerTool. It will do it for you, plus some other Finder goodies.

Yep, tinkertool or then some other freeware like onyx which also does lot of other nice things like run cron scripts repair permissions etc.
