Downloaded iTunes 4.9 and it's still showing 4.8

OSXer
I just upgraded my Mac software and downloaded iTunes 4.9 and the iPod Updater software and for some reason my iTunes is still showing it's running 4.8. I've tried restarting but it still shows this and I've also tried rechecking software updates and it says there aren't any.

Does anyone know how to get it to upgrade so I can see the Podcasting icon?

this is because you are still running 4.8. look in your applications folder, and there should be another itunes icon. click in column view to see which is the 4.9, and replace the old one with this one into your dock. noticed this when i did 4.7-4.8

Hmmmm. I checked the Applications folder and I just have one iTunes folder/icon which says it was last modified on June 2, 2005.

It's also showing in the PReferences, Installed Updates that I'm running 4.8 so it's weird it's not detecting there's a new version available and downloading it. Here's what the log file said:

2005-06-02 23:34:09 -0400: Installed "iTunes" (4.8)
2005-06-02 23:34:12 -0400: Installed "iMovie HD Update" (5.0.2)
2005-06-02 23:35:09 -0400: Installed "Mac OS X Update" (10.4.1)
2005-06-14 00:10:24 -0400: Installed "Security Update 2005-006" (1.0)
2005-06-28 10:15:49 -0400: Installed "iTunes" ((null))
2005-06-28 10:16:22 -0400: Installed "iPod Updater 2005-06-26" ( )

This is also at the end of my list under Installed Updates which you can tell is some type of syntax error because iPod Updater isn't displayed at the bottom:

2005-06-28 10:15 AM iTunes (null

Any other ideas?

I found out that iTunes forced itself to install on my main partition instead of the symbolic link to another partition where my applications are located. Uhhh I hate it when this happens!!!

Yeah, I should have just left it alone but I thought it would be a good idea to keep things separate from the System just in case I had any problems and had to reinstall OS X. Too bad it's such a PITA to repartition the hard drive or else I'd move all the Apps back to the main partition.
