Yup, I did it...sigh. I dropped an external hard drive, and now it won't mount.
Not only did I drop it, but when it fell, it was in use, and the cable disconnected....omg.
Something shows up in the System Profiler, which reads:
Manufacturer: Unknown
Model: Unknown Device
GUID: 0x0
Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec
Connection Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec
Neither Disc Utility, Disk Warrior, nor Data Rescue II can recognize the drive.
Am I screwed? Is my only option paying some company thousands of dollars to recover the data? Unfortunately I cannot afford that.
Any input is appreciated, at the moment I just want to cry while beating the wall.
I'm so desperate I'm going to freeze it, and power it up from within the freezer...trying both the firewire and USB cable. I've already switched casing houses, with no luck.
