Ahoy hoy

ive been using my dvd burner for some time now without any troubles. ive burned about 100 8x disks ( half + / half - ) and a 30 4x disks (all -)

then a friend came over with 2x - disks and ever since i burned on them my burner wont hit 8x any longer ??? what gives

my setup:
G4|450 / 512 ram
40gb 1st master / 80gb 1st slave
Nec DVD RW ND-2510A (2nd master)
10.3.7
Toast 6.0.3

and i used pathburn 3.0b6 to get itunes support
and i just finished uninstalling patchburn profiles
and reinstalling with 3.0b8 (the latest version)

i got halfway though a 50 pack of memorex 8x + at 8x
and toast still has the 8x option, but when i put in a blank disk it only says 2x and 4x are available burning speeds ?

any help would be appreciated

Go to your Home>Library>Preferences. Trash the Roxio Toast Prefs file. Empty the trash, now start up Toast and give it a try.

Cheryl thanks for the reply
but not luck. i deleted the com.roxio.toast.plist
and when i launched toast i saw the user agreement
but disk info still shows only available seeps are 2x and 4x

and other ideas ?

My copy of Toast does the same thing with a Pioneer 107 and Memorex 8x rated media -- only 2x and 4x are available to me.

The speed options are limited by the disks that you are using (the media) You may notice that the options change with different brands. Try a different brand.
