dvd error 5000

after installing 0sx 10.5.5 upgrade if i try to run the dvd player i get..... initialization error 5000
cause? cure? mac is a g4 powerpook with combi drive
 
Error 5000 is something along the lines of invalid/incorrect/insufficient privileges with some file associated with DVD Player.

Try launching Disk Utility and repairing permissions on your Mac OS X boot drive, then try playing the DVD again.
