dvd rw drive

i need to get a exturnal dvd rw drive for my g4 running osx 10.3.9 can anyone recomend one i am having real problems finding one,i don't want a inturnal one as it is to be used on more than one mac
 
Just about any external DVD reader/writer will do the trick. Get as much as you can afford; meaning firewire over just USB, and as fast as possible. Check whether +, -, or both on CD & DVD for your purchase of media. Also make sure it says R and RW on CD & DVD. (I personally have a Sony, but many others make such a unit)

I endorse DeltaMac's recommendation and add my own, namely Pioneer brand. Just make sure you research its compatibility with modern media eg. dvd's. An example - I have an external Pioneer 112D operating inside a Devideon case (firewire). If I'd known at the time, I'd have bought a 112 (no D) because that would both read from and write to DVD-DL as well as DVD-RAM.
