DVD Studio Pro 1.5 burning issue

Yes, I know I should upgrade to DVD SP 2 or 3, but...

Used to be able to burn DVD-Rs that played in my $30 basic Circuit City unit.

Now, after a hard drive reformat, the DVDs burned don't play in that unit. I get a "No Disc" message. Yet, the DVDs will play on the Mac.

Thought I might have a region problem, but there doesn't seem to be a way to change that on the Circuit City cheapie.

I would like to burn DVDs that can play on these very basic units, and I used to be able to (prior to the new hard drive). Am I missing something?

Have you recently used a different brand of DVD-R disks?

Here's a strange twist: I can play old DVDs I burned on the Circuit City unit, but when I copy them in Toast (porting over the Audio and Video files), again the unit gives me a "No disc" error. These disks all play on the Mac.
