dvdr installation problems

I have just purchased a pioneer DVDR108 for my G4 1.25 (OSX 10.3.7) I have installed the drive in the place of a DVDR104 so straight forward replacement. I rebooted and checked in Toast and the drive is recognised. But when I go to eject the drive it makes a sound, like it wants to come out.. But no tray...>> I'm sure its very simple and I have just forgotton to do something.. please help

For some G4 systems, you need to remove the front lip part of the drive tray (usually the plastic lip part that says "DVD-RW" or whatever on the front). Could it be that the front of the tray is hanging on part of the case?
