DVD's are not recognized

Hello, I just received my new iMac combo drive. Looks and feels great. One problem. I have put in 4 DVD's that do work in my DVD player connected to my TV and nothing happens.

Once in a while after ejecting and putting them back in, it thinks that it is trying to mount the drive and wants to initialize the cd.

Can anyone help?

I am a convert from Windows to Mac OSX and also a UNIX lover.

Are the DVD's mounting (appearing) on the desktop? If so, open System Preferences>Go to Cds&DVDs tab. Under "When in you insert a video DVD" and choose DVD Player.

If the DVDs are not mounting call APPLE.
