Hey all! Finally got the new Mac I always wanted and switched for good. Burning worked fine before, but now I insert media and it gives me code 0x80040023 Invalid Media. What the hell? Using CD-R and DVD-R media as recommended. Live in Canada, Windsor Ontario to be exact. What media works then? Hope I don't have to buy Apple media, we don't have an Apple store nearby and I don't want to travel to Michigan for media. Anyone know brands that work properly? Have tryed Verbatix and Maxell CD-R with no avail, and just bought a spindle of Memorex DVD-R with also no avail. Have run PatchburnIII with no results either.

HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082B is my model number. What the hell is up? Love my Mac more than life itself but no burning? Going CRAZY!!!!

Did you run PatchBurn before or after the problems arose? If you haven't switched out the CD/DVD drive with an aftermarket drive, then there is no need to run PatchBurn. All that program does is add native burning support to aftermarket, unsupported drives... you shouldn't use it with the drive that came with the machine.

Does it do this for ALL media? CD-Rs, CD-RWs, DVD-Rs, DVD-RWs? Or just certain media? Or just at certain times? I guess what I'm asking is if there's any pattern to the error -- does it do it all the time, or just some of the time?

Also, how are you burning the disks? What software are you using (iTunes, iDVD, Toast, Disk Utility, the Finder)? What kind of data are you trying to burn to the media (data, video, audio)?

jbobik,

Use your 90 days of tech support and call Apple! Make them earn their money. It may be a hardware problem.
