All attempts to burn a CD fail. When burning from iphoto the message is burn failed unknown error 2147352477. When attempting to burn copies of folders or files or zipped files/folders the whole burn routine goes through and then it notifies me that the disk is corrupted or something. I am using office max CD-r, 700mb disks and they work fine on my ibook, and have previously worked well on the emac. The emac has recently been upgraded to OSX 10.4.11 but I'm pretty sure this started before the upgrade. I have recently run disk utility permissions repair.

Try to reset the Pram first. If this doesn't fix try a CD/DVD cleaner disk. If that doesn't work, replace the drive.

Before replacing the drive it might be worth trying other brands of CD. If the disks you are using are very old they can also actually 'go bad' before burned. I had a series of Sony high quality CDs come up with swirls on the burn side that prevented them from being used despite the fact they had been individually sealed and stored properly.
Also try burning at a slower speed if you can.
Using Toast would be another test but that would be an expense probably not worth it compared to the cost of a new internal or external burner.
