email issues

i have been having a great deal of trouble sending and receiving email through Entourage and mac mail. it started a few days ago. i can go through web mail on my pc but cant get my mac mail do anything. it now rejects my password when trying to set it up. i deleted both my accounts and then tried re setting them up up i keep having the same problems.
thank you for any help i can receive......
 
If you are using an external email service (past the one your ISP uses) you have to make sure that service supplies external connection for free or if you have to pay for that kind of service. Then most ISP block port 25 (the send port) and port 110 (the receive port) to stop spammers (a half hearted on their systems). So most email servers made alternate ports to get past this. Just set your send port to 587 (it maybe different for your service so check with them) and your receive port to 993. Each service is unique so check with them.
