Hey guys, first time posting on here so plz be nice if this is totally in the wrong place. I've been trying to spoof my MAC address for my en0 hardware setup. After searching the internet extensively and attempting to use various 3rd party apps (namely ChangeMac). I can not figure it out. I've also tryed etherspoof but that was a little to complicated. Any guidance?

I'm currently on OS X 10.5.6

I'm not sure what your en0 hardware is, but most people only need to spoof their MAC address when they are using a cable modem.

Some cable companies setup the cable modem to work only with 1 computer. They do this by entering the MAC address of the computer into the cable modem so the cable modem will only function with that specific computers ethernet MAC address.

The way around this is to buy a router and hook the router to your computer, go into the router setup and choose clone MAC address. Then, your router has the same MAC address that the cable modem is expecting to see and the cable modem now works with the router.

The router can now have multiple computers hooked into it either wired or wireless (if the router is WiFi enabled).

If this is what you are trying to accomplish, follow the instructions above.

Ok, some clarification might help you guys help me. The reason for me wanting to spoof my MAC is i'm currently living in a dorm at a school with fairly strict internet policies. I've been told if you use too much bandwidth the firewall will automatically kick you off (based on your MAC-which for me would be my Ethernet, i.e. en0). So if I buy an old router (I have an old linksys access point) I can clone my mac so if i do end up getting kicked off I can change it something else so i am no longer excluded from connection? That seem right?
