error -50 Change Password Failed

Hi,

I have a problem wherby my Intel Macs running OSX 10.4.8 are unable to change their AD password from their Mac. They get the message to prompt about expiry when they have tried logging onto the fileserver using their domain credentials but when they fill in the Change Password details, it returns an error: Change Password Failed -50
I understand from research that this has something to do with the version of Microsoft UAM in OSX 10.4.8 or later ?
Has anybody else seen this problem at all ?

Tried your suggestion but did not help I'm afraid. I think that actually refers to earlier versions of the OS.
Thanks anyway for your help.

I'm not a networking specialist at all, but here is the solution that was used at my workplace as we received this same error. I upgraded my Mac clients from 10.3.8 to 10.4.9, the -50 error started. (excuse my wording as this explanation goes on) We are at a remote site where the AD "mothership" does not reside and therefore, true AD authentication did not immediately occur. The Win machines are fine of course, but not the Macs. However, as a workaround, when the Macs are forwarded to a link that I've provided that takes them to the other site with the proper server, they authenticate and change passwords without issue. Obviously, I had to get all of my Mac users access to one of the servers at that particular site. Hope that helps in some way. Wish I was more network savvy so I could give you a better and more detailed explanation.
