I have some software written in Excel that asvertising agencies use to buy newspaper ad space. Most use PCs but some use Macs. It has worked fine until lately when two new users running OSX reported that Excel crashes when they try to enter a number in either of two columns on one of the tabs.
The columns that crash Excel, K and L, are used to enter numbers, and the next column, M, has a formula that multiplies the numbers in K and L. As there are 1,000 rows used, I used an array formula in column M to save disk space.
One user sent me her file that was crashing. I changed the formula in column M from an array formula to "regular" formulas and sent it back to her. It no longer crashes her Excel.
This suggests that there may be a bug in OSX that kicks in when Excel tries to process a large array formula. However I would be interested in any thoughts this board may have. Also, is there somewhere I can report this bug?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Regards,
Vernon
