PC user forever and just switched to MBP. I have a 120GB Western Digital drive that I plugged in and copied a few GIGS to my MBP. I tried to delete the folder and then realized that I didn't have privelages.

I disconnected from the MBP and reconnected to my PC via firewire so that I could clear the drive off and eventually refrmat MAC extended or FAT32 ( I was still deciding) NOW neither machine will read my harddrive despite restarting/unplugging/trying both USB and FIREWIRE etc etc.

HELP cause my whole life is on the drive...

THANX!

NTFS is a closed Microsoft format so other operating systems (like OS X) can only read data from an NTFS formatted drive. Microsoft will not open that system format to Apple or anyone else (Linux).

However once you get that data off the drive, format it with Mac OS X Extended (Apple does license that to third parties). Then on you Windows box just buy and install MacDrive 6 and have the format usable on you Windows box too.

I had sort of gathered that from other peoples posts but the problem right now is that the harddrive is not showing up on ANY systems. I tried it on my MBP and two other PCs so far and nothing is showing up. I tried USB and firewire and also even tried to do "ADD HARDWARE" seraches...

I was thinking of trying Disk Warrior but are there other programs or suggestions I could try to get it to recognize on ANY system at all?

Well if it doesn't show up on any computer system, is looks like hardware. Before you buy some disk utility try to see if /Applications/Utilties/Disk Utility can detect/repair the disk.

I did actually give that a try but what seems odd to me is that it's worked fine for over a year and suddenly now that I plug into a Mac it has problems? It seems to much of a coincidence to me... :(
