External USB drive doesn't auto-mount on reboot

I have a drive connected via USB 2.0 It's newly formatted with 2 partitions. Running 10.5.6 on a macbook.

The drive seems to work fine, the problem is whenever I reboot the two drives don't mount in finder.

When I look in disk utility. I can see the drive listed but the partitions are not.

I have to manually unplug and re insert the drive for it to function correctly.

I'm having the exact same problem on my mac mini, with 10.5.6. If anyone knows a solution to this i'd be very happy to find a resolution.

however before i reloaded the OS, it was working, which was running 10.5.2, incrementally updated to 10.5.6. after reloading from the original dvd (10.5.2) and combo updating to 10.5.6 , it didn't work

Disconnect the drive then Reset Your PRAM. See if that helps.

Plus once you mounted the drive did you add it to your Login Items (System Preferences->Accounts->Your Account, Login Items)?
