Fan running in power mac g4 sawtooth 500 mhz

Hi!
Does the power mac g4 sawtooth 500 mhz machine normally have its fan running at a slow speed always, on os x tiger 10.4.2.? No performance problems whatsoever, otherwise. Just curious if anyone knows about this.

There are two fans in the G4/500MHz Sawtooth -- the power supply fan, and the main case cooling fan. Which fan in particular are you talking about?

Yes, the fans run contsantly, all the time, unless the computer is sleeping.

and they run slow in order to try to be quieter.

The older G4 Macs do not have variable speed fans. Power on, the fans run... Always the same speed.
