fast user switching

I have my panther configured for fast user switching.
I also have a Kensington 5 button mouse.
When I switch users specifically from admin to another user - the extra mouse buttons don't work properly.
I made sure that the mouse's system preferences were set the same way for each user.
Is this a problem with my mouse/config software or is this a problem with panther and user switching?

That's because the User Preferences are different for each user (the preferences reside in your Home Folder/Library/Preferences). You need to set up the mouse's Preferences for each user. Good Luck.

On the second user - I went to "mouseworks" under system preferences and configured this second user but it still doesn't work.

You may need to verify and repair permissions for each user. Log in on one user, use disk utility to verify and repair permissions, configure mouseworks. Then log into next user and repeat.
