File open visual indicator

Either I've been working too long, or something is wrong. Doesn't X have some type of file indicator that lets you know you clicked a file and you are launching an application? Because lately i have been clicking away unaware if iI clicked enough time. I think i need some sleep or something is wrong.

Well, the application icon in the Dock will bounce, or, if you have bouncing turned off, the little black triangle below the Dock icon will fade in and out while the program is loading.

If you're talking about files opening and not programs launching, then once you double-click the file to open it, a rectangular animated "outline" of the file will scale larger to fill the screen (understand? I don't know if that came out right) to let you know that you've double-clicked it... then the whole scenario I described in the first paragraph will happen, unless, of course, the application that handles that kind of file is already open.

Thats it, that outline is gone. I haven't seen it in a while. I've been click crazy lately, double clicking unaware that i clicked a file since my dock is hidden. Not sure how long, i just noticed it last night while working.

I know quite a few people have "issues" with restarting their computers -- seems like it's the new, cool thing to have some sort of insane uptime on their computers, but restarting once in a blue moon can solve LOADS of problems. I know we're not supposed to have to restart, but it sure can fix a number of annoyances sometimes.

thats just it, i average a uptime of at the most 3 days, I have yet to be up for 2 weeks problem free since about 10.2.3
