Final Cut Pro HD on Intel?

I have an academic version of FCP HD on my G4 DP 1 GHz and I am worried about how it will run on an Intel Mac and/or if I can upgrade to a newer version built for Intel. $1k is real money to me and FCP seems like a complex app that may not "emulate" (or whatever you call it) well. Any ideas out there? Anyone know?

It won't run at all on an Intel-based Macintosh computer until you upgrade to the Universal Binary version.

Apple offers "cross-grades" for Final Cut Pro and the Final Cut Suite, as well as cross-grades from the Academic versions. More information here:

Still, $199 is a great deal as there was no upgrade for the academic version previously.

I just ordered a (full) upgrade for my own copy of FCP 4

Ah, yeah, sorry... FCP is more than one app now.

Dammit, I gotta be nitpicky again... "FCP" is "Final Cut Pro", which is one, single application. "FCS" is "Final Cut Studio", which includes a bunch of applications like Soundtrack, DVD Studio Pro, and, of course, Final Cut Pro.

So, "FCP" is one app, but "FCS" is a bunch of 'em.

I did, but I can't seem to understand why you'd want to run it in emulation when there's a native version available
