Finder Crash

I run a G5 with 10.4.11 and recently the finder has been crashing along with Quark and Indesign. Sometimes other software works but I usually reboot and the finder runs again for a while. I've opened a new account (still crashing) and ran Disk Warrior (still crashing)! Is the hard disk about to go or could it be something else? Can anybody help?

There was a problem with constant Finder crashes and having a certain version of StuffIt installed, although I thought it only affected 10.5 Leopard...

It may be worth your time to try and either uninstall StuffIt, or upgrade it to the latest version and see if that helps. If not, post back and we'll continue troubleshooting.

Hello again

I've deleted everything with the word stuffit in it and the finder still crashes. I also have an external hard drive attached which I am now saving all my files to and sometimes it doesn't mount on the desktop after a reboot1

Any helpful ideas?

I've done a reinstall of the system and all seems well so far other than I can't get the PPD for the press here to appear in the Indesign Print dialog box PPD section. It's just greyed out generic postscript printer which I can't change. I also can't choose the custom size setting which is the one I need for the paper sizes here.

Is this a question for this forum or should I look elsewhere?
