In the finder, I can no longer flip the triangle to the left of the folder to see what is in the folder. Plus now the tabs are all open in the same window, not separate windows. Is that new to High Sierra?

Sounds as if the background app Finder.app stop responding! Hold down to the ‘option key’ while click on Finder .app in your Dock! Then choose to reset the Finder.app! This should clear things up!
