Finder question

Recently I removed my Shuffle from it's dock while my Macbook Pro was sleeping. When I woke the computer, I got a warning about not unmounting the volume.

Now, there is a folder on the left hand side of the finder window under Network and Macintosh HD with the name of my Shuffle that won't go away. I can drag it to the trash and it will go away for that session, but when I open Finder again, it is there. It won't let me ctrl+click on it and when I click on it, I get an error:
Code:
The volume for "Shuffle" cannot be found.

This is driving me nuts.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried replugging in your iPod Shuffle and then properly unmounting/ejecting it to see if it fixes things? Really, you shouldn't just unplug any USB or Firewire device without either dragging it over to the Trash (where it changes to an Eject icon), or if it's within iTunes (since we're talking about an iPod) hit the Eject button. Just unplugging it is bound to cause errors and data corruption, and quirks like what you're having now....especially if the computer is in a sleep mode.

Leave the shuttle out of the port then on you Mac Reset your Pram. Upon the reboot after the Pram reset plug the shuffle back in and never do what you did again. Follow nixgeek's advice to unmount any USB or Firewire device.

I did the PRAM reset and the file is gone. Now there is an eject button available next to the Network Icon on the top left of finder. It doesn't look like anything happens when I click the button. Is it possible to make this go away as well?
