I'm having problems getting fink to run on my G3 300mhz running OSX 10.2.8, I get an exit code 10 if I use rsync, exit code 1 if I use cvs. It says it is configured properly but does not connect to any mirror. Any suggestions???

I'm tunnelling through a Windows 2000 box running AnalogX proxy, I've looked all over the Fink page and the Fink Commander page, but can't find any specifics. I can download and install manually but not with fink, it can't connect to any mirror to download files to intall. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I also have this kind of problem : Fink cannot download any file. My eMac is connected to Internet through Jana Server running on WinXP. I think it's a problem with the proxy, but I'm too lame to solve it...

Someone have an idea of what I should do ?

Can't connect to any mirror, eh? Do you have a package installed called fink-mirrors? Check by typing `sudo fink list | grep fink-mirrors` you should see:
i fink-mirrors 0.20.0.1-1 Mirror infrastructure

If not I would suggest trashing /sw and re-installing Fink.

Also when you say you're tunneling through what Win2k box, do you mean you have an SSH tunnel for HTTP to the WAN (which sounds slightly...odd)?

Close, I see

i fink-mirrors 0.0.4-1 Mirror infrastructure

when I run that command.

I'm thinking it is a proxy problem, when you tell fink your Proxy/Firewall settings it says

Enter the URL of the HTTP proxy to use, or 'none' for no proxy. The URL
should start with http:// and may contain username, password or port
specifications.

but doesn't tell you the format to specify these.

I've even tried to login as root, but then fink doesn't even run at all under root.

If I installed fink under root would other users be able to access fink and fink commander?

Thanks again for any help and suggestions.

Also, I have my dsl modem in the Win2k box. I have an ethernet port on there also. To give internet access to all my other boxes, G4, G3, etc... I have everything running to a router. So, for example, for my G3 to get internet access, it goes through the router, which is a simple task, then through the Win2k box via AnalogX, which is a proxy server. I'm not sure if it is SSH, it uses ftp, http, smtp, nntp, pop3, and socks. If there is an easier way for me to do this please tell me, this has been the only way I have been able to get internet access to all my boxes.

Again thanks for any replies and suggestions.
