Firefox 1.0rc1 Now out

I'm having the same problem with this release as with the previous. When I try to download a picture with this browser, I get a spinning ball during the download and have to force quit the browser. Other than that, it is very quick and stable.Any ideas as to why this is happening?

something could have issues in your application support folder for firefox. I suggest moving it on to the desktop and restart firefox and it'll create a new one.

No problems of that sort for me, I just tested it on amazon and it downloaded fine with no beachball at all.

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041026 Firefox/1.0

Do you mean move Firefox from the Applications folder to the desktop? I have done so and am still having the same problem - the spinning beachball and then having to force quit the browser. Thanks for the suggestion. :(

Look here;

user>library>application support

Drag that Firefox folder to your desktop, then start Firefox and see what happens.

i like firefox cause its really fast.....

but it does lack some features...

i think u can never be fully satisfied...
there are things in safari that i like more than on omniweb or firefox or things that i like more on omniweb etc....

It's still a very un-OS X application, and I hate that. Sure, it's cool that the codebase is the same on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, but I rather have a good OS X application like Safari or OmniWeb. But I keep a copy of Firefox on my PB in order to look at pages that have problems in Safari or OW. For that it's good enough.

im ashamed to admit that i keep a copy of IE on my mac.... but only for very very rare occasions where a site works only on IE !!! Even thouh i think u can fix that with the debug menu on Safari

My university's website requires IE in order for me to sign up for classes (changing Safari's user agent doesn't work either). I'm beginning to realize Safar is sloooow. Firefox is nice and speedy at loading pages, but loading the app is slow, and the UI is clunky and non-aqualicious, however on Windows it's a fantastic browser (both UI and speed). Hopefully Safari 2.0 for Tiger will be speedier.

Yeah - I agree with ya kainjow. Safari lately simply won't want to seem to load pages and time out, say that they don't exsist. Then I'll tell it to try again and it works fine. And this happens with just about any site too! I do hope they fix alot in the next Safari.

This just started happening to me too! It's really getting extremely annoying

Firefox PR1 is nice!!! I love the new tab options. Especially, force pages to open in new tabs not new windows. Sweettt.

And, for those who don't know, Firefox 1.0 for Mac will be out before the end of the year more than likely, this will include an aquification phase to make it fit in better.

Holy Crap! Since were on the browser subject I just realized Camino 8.1 was out...here I was using 7.0 all this time....

By the way - thanks bobw! Works well! :D
