First Aid problems.

I recently run First Aid in Disk Utility to verify disk permissions on my PowerMac G4, but it doesn't let me to verify. With the same configuration, on my PowerBook G4, the app works.

The PowerMac G4 disk in partitioned, the other one isn't.
Mac OS X 10.2.3 both.

What's the problem?

You can only verify permissions on the partition with the Mac OS X System on it.

Asfaik you must boot from the installer CD and select Disk Utility from the Apple menu in order to do this.

I know. and I select boot partition.
I'd like to know why it doesn't work.

The only difference is that the PM G4 disk is partitioned.
Could this be the problem?

oops... currently busy trying to fix my mac and obviously not paying enough attention.

I've not had problems with Disk Utility before (Wallstreet PowerBook with three partitions), sorry I can't be of more help.

That shouldn't be a problem. I've got 3 partitions and I'm able to Verify Disk Permissions. Just make sure you are selecting one partition (volume) at a time, not the whole disk.

I'm running 10.2.3 in a G3 700 iBook.

I know this is a dumb question, but is there any choice available to you, in either permissions or disk, verify or repair?
