Fixing hung Desktop & Screen Saver

Loaded an image for a desktop, and the Desktop & Screen Saver unexpectedly quit. Now it just hangs if I try and open it to get rid of the offending image.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

What kind of image was it (what image format)?

Try removing the Desktop Picture from here;

Library>Desktop Pictures

Was a zipped tiff file (from Photoshop). Thanks for the suggestion! Thought I'd done a search for Desktop, but will look there in the future. Tried a few approaches, and for some reason finally D & SS to open.

I would suggest only using JPG formatted images as a Desktop Picture. Since the Desktop picture uses RAM to display, having a smaller file than a TIFF such as a JPG may help.

Thanks, you're doubtless correct. I winced the moment I selected the picture, not having prepared or sized an image. I sure didn't expect it to more or less crash that function of the system, though!
