fixing read/write permissions on HP external drives

I recently bought a HP Pocket Media Drive & before i connected it ot my PC (windows XP Pro) I had Read/Write Permission on the HP drive with my PowerBook G4. Afterwards I lost the ability to write to the HP drive from my PowerBook G4. Can anyone give me any idea's on how I can fix the problem.

OSX can't write to NTFS without 3rd party software or OS hacks. You need to repartition and reformat the drive. Repartition to GUID as apposed to MBR like it's current partition scheme. Then reformat to Mac OS extended (journaled).

If you plan on using the drive with both Windows and OSX then you can leave its current partition scheme, but you will need to reformat the drive to MS DOS.
