Flash Versions?

Can someone clear up my confusion in regard to the difference between:
NPAPI Plug-in version
and
PPAPI Plug-in version?

Flash, in System Preferences lists both, and each has a separate download.

It's getting to be a pain updating both, which seem to be practically weekly.

This is a short and sweet explanation - https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/discussion.html?id=14532

My take on this (I could be somewhat wrong on this :D ) - Adobe provides installers for both plugins (they are different), the NPAPI is the Safari and Firefox, and the PPAPI is for Chromium, Opera, and Chrome. Chrome has the plugin built-in, no need to do a separate install for Chrome if that's what you use. So, you can safely ignore the separate install for PPAPI, if Chrome is your browser.
And, Safari and Firefox - if you think you need Flash plugin - only need the NPAPI. And you can ignore the PPAPI.

Maybe you can test what you do - and you can choose to uninstall Flash, and live without it. That depends on what you need it for. (And, use Chrome when you have a need to use Flash, you don't need to install it then.)
