I noticed that there is a shortcut key to force quit a program and beside the text, it shows the keys that you have to push but I can't seem to figure out what the first key is suppose to be. Could anyone help?

Cmd-Opt-Esc brings up the Force-Quit dialogue. That key-combo can be called...

Cmd-Opt-Esc ->
Apple-Alt-Esc

or any mix-match version of those.

Thanks Fryke. I just have one more quesion about shortcut keys.

I don't understand the symbols. The only key I know is the apple key.

If you go to the International pref pane/Input menu - and turn on the Keyboard viewer. Go to the Flag that now shows in your menu bar, and click on Keyboard viewer from that menu. You will see a representation of your keyboard. You will see what each key's symbol represents.

Opt-Shift-Cmd-Esc is that combo.

The first symbol is what you also see on the key itself (alt plus the option-symbol). Same for the next one, the shift-key. The command-key's symbol is _also_ printed on the keyboard next to the Apple-logo. Earlier Apple keyboards had the escape-symbol printed on them, but nowadays the key reads just "esc".
