I installed OS 10.2 (backing up the old currupted OS9). It rebooted after finishing the installation and the message "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the Restart button." With what looks to be like an error code FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF. Any help?

That's a kernel panic -- if anything, I would try the fresh install once again.
If it happens again, try removing any 3rd party RAM sticks you've added and any FireWire or USB devices (other than the keyboard/mouse). Usually happens when you've got a bad stick of RAM, but not always -- sometimes it's just due to a bad installation.
