Frozen Mouse

I have an optical mouse running on system 10.1.5 and it's been freezing more and more often. If I unplug the computer and restart it's okay but I'm wondering if this is a warning of some horrible problem in the future?
 
do you have any possibility to test the mouse on another mac or do you have any other usb device to see, if the usb port works fine?
