Im trying to connect a Dell 2405FPW (24" LCD) to my G5 1.8DP with the original GeForce FX5200 card. I have it connected with the DVI cable supplied with the monitor. When i boot up my G5, the little light on the screen turns green as it should, then i see the apple grey screen with the spinning thing, and then the screen goes black, and the green power light on the lcd goes back to orange as if its in sleep mode. The only way i can connect it is with the VGA connection, how it is now.

with the VGA cable i cant set the resolution to the native resolution of the monitor, 1920X1200. I get a message "cant display this setting". Right now its 1600 X 1200 and its all stretched out....

I spoke to someone at nvidia, and they told me that the factory FX5200 should work fine with the this LCD.

I dont care about insane graphics. I work on music, and i got this monitor for the 'real estate' factor. I just want it to work

Someone please help...

after doing a bunch of reading, i found someone had a similar problem with a different monitor.

Reset the video RAM!!!!....i didn't want to post the command i typed because i'm not sure if it applies to all machines. It did the trick, and my 2405 looks lovely!

I have a similar issue with my monitor. HP LP2065 Wont run at 1600-1200.

I have a G4 Sawtooth (OS9) and a Quicksilver (OSX)

How do you reset the VRAM in those?
