G5 Help (not recognizing RAM)

Bought two 512 memory chips from newegg.com

Rosewill 184-Pin 512MB DDR PC3200, Model RW400/512 - Retail

installed them twice into my Dual 2.0 G5, no luck. Computer has not recognized the installed memory. What to do next?? Thanks.
 
I had that problem as well. The Ram must match exactly and must be in the correct slots (opposite each other) according to apple. Not sure why. Sorry if you already know this... Until Then...
 
As I remember, I had a somewhat similar problem with my 1.8 G5 when I upgraded the OS: the non-Apple RAM prevented start-up. I exchanged it for Apple RAM and all was well.
 
It could well be that your memory is not compatible, but make sure that you are installing these in the proper slots. The memory slots are arranged like this:
4 - pair 4
3 - pair 3
2 - your new memory pair 2
1 - original memory pair 1
1 - original memory pair 1
2 - your new memory pair 2
3 - pair 3
4 - pair 4

So, the memory must be installed by pairs from the inside out. You can skip empty slots, but the pairs have to be in a paired position. Make sure the memory is seated properly.
