G5 Optical Port Signal

Hi,

I just connected my old Sony MD Walkman with my G5 Dual using the optical cable.
I receive a signal (visible in preferences/sound/output) but I have no sound on my usb soundsticks and no further options in preferences available.
Is there a solution?

I think you can only select one sound output at a time. So when you select to send the audio on the optical output, the USB soundsticks and internal speakers will not work.

To have multiple sound outputs you need a third party application like Detour.
