G5 standard option downgrading

I am probably gonna get a G5 PowerMac. What I was looking at was getting a dual 1.8 with a 9600xt and the stock amnt of ram and just pop in a gig after i get it. This was sitting at 1900 with student discount.

Now just for kicks i checked out the dual 2.0 and noticed that they were forcing 512mb of ram and a 160 gb hard drive on you. Is there any way to go UNDER that, like from another site or something? I could go with no ram and a 80 gig hd no problem and save a lot of money. Making the 2.0 more in the same price range of the 1.8.

Nope, Apple stopped letting people "strip down" the top-end models a while back, probably around the third generation of G4 machines. You used to be able to modify the top-end model so the extras like hard drive and video card matched the low-end model, but no more... :(
