Okay..If i were to get a low end powermac g4...Not alot of Ram or a big hd etc... For around 200-300 And upgrade it as i see neccasary or when i have money..Would this work out? I use dual monitors in Windows..Does Tiger support this... Like in windows if the video card has a vga and dvi you can use dual monitors..Is this the same in mac? Id like to get either 533mhz...Would this be able to run Tiger and iLife 05? Maybe something like this??

I can always upgrade video card, hard drive, ram , optical drives, expansion cards right?? Is 400mhz fast enough to be worth upgrading other parts?
This seems like a better deal though...

Could someone help me out?

I run a G4 Powerbook and I can run duel monitors. I have a 30" HD Cinema Display and I use the laptop screen as a second to run other things(music, iMovie, etc.)

It depends on the model. The one you linked to in your first post can handle 2GB max (4 x 512MB PC100 chips). Some later models only handle 1.5GB, since they have 3 RAM slots instead of 4.

Not to be rude but what does this have to do with my question/idea........

As long as the video card supports dual monitors, no problem. You could run more than two if you put additional video cards in.
You can also upgrade the processor. Check here for upgrades.

This looks like an awesome deal

If only i had 300 bucks plus shipping money..... Unfortunatley i only have 130....Is that worth the money? I'm trying to get a good idea of what the macs i want are worth.. It seems good considering it has Tiger and iLife 05 Which alone is like 170 or so right? I know tiger is 100 and iLife is like somewhere between 30 and 70..lol...

Is 500mhz PPC G4 fast enough to run like Firefox(or safari), instant messaging and some other misc. apps at once? Use iLife05 good?

yes, it is. if that's all you want it for, then $300 is not going to buy a better machine. get it. it looks asd though it doesn't have a screen or keyboard/mouse etc, so budget that in.

Unfortuanatley I dont have the money right now...But something like that is defiantley a deal for 300? I'll prolly use iLife 05 quite a bit ...And maybe play with photoshop........Possibly do some audio editing...Podcast maybe....Would 500mhz with 1gb or more of ram be able to handle it?

yes. my brother has a similar machine (466mhz G4, 1gb ram) and produced a degree in Graphic Design from it. he now produce music from it. for an idea of what it's capable of, here's an alubm with artwork by Megaheadphoneboy

my 466g4 w/1gig ram runs 10.4.3(tiger) and ilife05 just fine, a be it a little slow, but does the job. hope to upgrade the cpu to help that. as far as multi monitors, i have the agp card and a pci card(both only support one monitor each) and have dual. if you get a pci card that can handle 2 monitors, then you could have three set up no prob. as an example of how well macs support multi monitors, i have an old 7100 nubus mac, with 5 monitors on it. 3 nubus vid cards, the onboard vid, and a vid in/out card in the pds. that was one long mouse stroke to get from one side to the other.

Now Im looking at a dual 450...or like a 867 quick silver.....with 1gb of ram ...I think the 400-550 price range is good...
