Thanks for your input; however the link you gave was for the server/deployment piece of WO. And No - I am not using Tiger Server(this is used/req'd to deploy a compiled WO application).
I am seeking the DEVELOPMENT piece of WO 5.3, which comes bundled in each Tiger OS X 10.4 machine. Apple indicates at
http://developer.apple.com/tools/webobjects/ that the WO 5.3 app is bundled with the current release of Xcode 2.1. This infers that it is now tightly coupled with Xcode, and that is the reason there is no specific upgrade(a la WO 5.2.4).
This makes sense when you investigate further how WO is 'backward-bridged' to work with Cocoa technology. I've learned this from the OmniGroup lists, which have discussions about possible adverse effects as far as continuing to be able to use Eclipse (a widely used open-source and largely preferred IDE for JAVA developement with WebObject plugins).
So in sum, matters are confusing when dealing with WebObjects, and trying to fathom Apple's position and direction with this great toolset. But for me I'm just trying to get WO 5.3 BECAUSE it supports(in its WebBuilder component) HTML 4.0.1, which enables all the latest neat things one can do in a browser using AJAX(javascript and CSS). And I believe the route to WO 5.3 is to install a recent(last 5 mos) developer tools set from Disk 2 of Tiger OS X.
Unless anyone can tell me another way?
regards
