Hi,
I am new to using Mac I also willing to learn, so you Eggsperts/Mac Guru would have to put up with question even if some may be silly or stupid to you but not to me and may be other newbie’s like me.

I want to know how to format New Hard Drive with Mac. I am getting a new Drive 160 gig and I am running OS 9.02 my first refurbished G4. I would appreciate if you include how to partition it too.

I am just the hang of the software, boy/girl it’s different ::alien::
Cheers

The Mac running OS 9.0.2 will see the unformatted hard drive at the first boot, and you'll see a message about that unformatted drive, just click the initialize button, and you're good to go!
note- A G4 system loaded with OS 9.0.2 will probably be about 4 years old, and WILL NOT use all of the hard drive space. You'll be limited to a partition of 128 GB. The only way to use all of your hard drive space, will be to add a Mac-compatible PCI IDE drive adapter card, supporting at least ata-100/133 standards. and plug the drive into that instead of the logic board.

Hi,
I am new to this site and I am beginning to like it already! THANKS FOR QUICK REPLY.

Will it make any different if the hard drive is external, as far as the age of my G4 OS 9.0.2 is concerned with regards to full usage of the 160gig drive?

Cheers

Sure, an external FireWire case is not subject to the same limitations, but the case does have to support large hard drives also (a new case probably will, but check the specs)
