Help - Can't uninstall Virex!

I installed Virex 7 + most recent DAT update and it still refuses to scan. I get the following error message:
"Your virus definitions (DAT files) date could not be established. Please check the installation."

When I attempt to thrash the entire Virex folder (with a view to re-downloading and installing), I get another error message telling me that "the operation could not be completed because you do not own this item".

I would like your help in telling me:
1) Why is it not scanning, and/or
2) How can I thrash it?

I am fairly new to Macs, so be gentle with me :-)
By the way I am using Jaguar, if that's any help.

Possibly the whole program has not yet been completely uninstalled. There's a program that is a GUI-based version that will uninsstall applications. It's on the website www.appremover.com and this should do the job. I hope this helps!
 
Wow - resurrecting an old thread!
Here's hoping the OP has already figured that out (from more than 10 years ago)
The OP would have had around OS X 10.2.1. Jaguar had other issues at that time, and Apple was still working on stability in the system.
 
Actually the OP hasn't posted since 2003 (10 years ago), maybe they've since passed on.;)
