Help in finding and downloading OS X 10.5. I'm using OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger) now.

I've had Tiger on my Mac Intel Core Duo since I bought it April of '06. At the time, I believe it was 10.4. I updated all the way to 10.4.11, and that is where I stayed. I hate to say it, but during this six year time period, I am still a novice. I'm a Windows person, and I just never got the hang of this Macintosh.

Regardless, I keep getting embarrassing messages to update my browser or update my flash player. I'm using Safari, etc. that is compatible with Tiger 10.4.11.

A Mac Technician says I may have trouble finding Leopard. It's as outdated as Tiger is. By the way, Leopard is the next Cat after Tiger, isn't it?

Any help will be appreciated.

Your computer should be fine with Mac OS X 10.6, aka Snow Leopard.
Here, check from the models from 2006 to find the exact one you have, and then see what is the newest OS it can handle.

The newer the easier it will be to get. So upgrade to the newest your Mac can handle.

Snow Leopard used to be available in the Apple store
http://www.apple.com/support/snowleopard/installation/ - if Apple store or the retail store close to you doesn't have it, you could call Apple store and ask. They should be able to find other deals too. Just make sure to tell which exact Mac you have, and which OS X you need especially if it can't handle the newest OS (10.8).

A Mac with Core Duo from 2006 will be able to upgrade to 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and that's the highest.
If you look at the sell prices now for Snow Leopard on eBay, looks like they start at around $50, and up.

Amazon is even higher - http://www.amazon.com/Mac-version-1...&sr=8-2&keywords=mac+osx+snow+Leopard+install

I heard that you can call Apple, and talk to someone at Apple sales, who can sell you a copy of Snow Leopard. When I last heard, Snow Leopard was still less than $30, direct from Apple. That was in August of 2012. However, with the prices at other sites, I wonder if Apple has decided not to make that available now, so it's only third party sales, and the prices have gone way up.... :(

Being able to skip Leopard and go to Snow Leopard was a pleasant surprise. I checked out the URLs you gave me. Looks like it's a go, so I'll be heading to the Apple Store which is about 4 miles from my home in Bothell, WA. Thank you very much for your reply.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can get Snow Leopard at an Apple retail store.
I just chatted with Apple online support, and they told me that you have to call AppleCare, and talk to telesales.
Just call 1-800-MY-APPLE (800-692-7753)
They said it's still $29, with free shipping.

From Mae Day :
please thank DeltaMac for the information. I called that number and Snow Leopard is being sent to me. I really appreciate your reply. I even went to the Apple Store before I received your message. I had been told by a rep at the Apple Store that they had Snow Leopard, but their must have been some miscommunication. I'm very happy to soon be upgrading. When Snow Leopard gets as old as Tiger is, I'll have to be thinking of a new computer or a refurbished one. Thanks again.
