Ok, new here hello everyone!

First the problem started when the mac would go to sleep I couldnt wake it up. The monitor light would just blink green and the screen would be black. Also programs started just randomly crashing, for no reason. Mainly Firefox (tired Safari, same thing.) Now the computer will not boot. Meaning I start it, it chimes, i get the grey loading screen the little wheel spins for mabye 15 sec, then the screen goes black and the monitor light flashes green. HOWEVER, I can hear the computer continue to load, and if i move the mouse around and click I can hear things being accessed.

HELP!!!! there are project i need to get off my computer.

Specs
1.25g Dual processor
ATI Radeon 9200 video card
2g ram

Ok so I have done the PRAM thing, I took out all the ram, and reseated it, and I moved the video card to different slots, I also tested the other 2 connection on the card, still with the same result... the s- vid didnt even pull a signal.

I heading home from work soon and wont have access to a computer, can anyone help.?

Try booting to your install DVD. If it does boot the install DVD, go to disk utility and try to repair the disk. Post back with disk utility results if it gets that far.

I'd try disconnecting the HD and then try booting to disk just to make sure its not the drive shutting the machine down. If it still does it then its most likely a bad power supply.

ok so last night I booted from Diskwarrior, work fine I was able to get in and work i did all the feature in disk warrior and rebooted, still nothing

so i booted in logged safe mode and after i type exit to boot

this is what it said

HFS: runtime corruption detected on MAC HD, fsck will be forced on next mount...

and it keeps saying that over and over and over

if i boot normal, now it gets to the grey screen and stays there.

i need to get a boot cd, i borrowed that cd from a friend.

You have to be a little clearer in explaining if you want help. So does it shut down now or just stay at the gray screen?

Im sorry, Now it is just staying the grey screen and there is a little wheel that is spinning, it stayed there on that screen for 20 min. last night. Where before it would just stay on the grey screen and then the screen would go black and the monitor light would flash after about 20 sec.

So Im most likely answering my own question, but I have a corrupted or bad HD dont I?

there are 2 HD in the computer, a slave and a master. Can I switch there positions so the slave becomes the master, and install an OS on slave and then the slave( was the master ) I would be able to get my saved files from there.

anyone know where i can get a OS cd.

Yes, you can do exactly that, but you don't need to switch the drives at all. "Master" and "Slave" are just like saying "Hard drive A" and "Hard drive B" -- just because it's named "Master" doesn't mean it takes and precedence over the "Slave" drive.

It's simply a way of differentiating drives on an IDE bus... neither is "better" than the other.

You can purchase older, PPC-compatible disks from several locations, such as eBay, Craigslist, lowendmac.com, etc.

OK, so I got the Boot cd, and ran disk utility on the main HD, it said there were to many variation to run , it tried everything, verify repair, permission.. i got the same error.

so i did a clean install of OS x.5 on my slave drive... WHICH is now my master, and then formatted the other drive.

so everything was working great, shut it down restarted it , and it was working perfect.

This morning started it up AND IT WENT RIGHT FROM THE GREY SCREEN TO BALCK and THE BLINKING GREEN LIGHT ON THE MONITOR was there.

Please someone help.

yeah, the master now has a jumper in the spot on the diagram that was on the HD that said master/slave present.

and the slave has the jumper on .. the slave spot that was on the diagram on the HD

ok so now the only way the Mac will start is to Zap the PRAM. If i try to start normally it goes right to black screen with monitor light flashing. If i do the PRAM thing let it go for 3 times, and the start, starts fine....

Might be a video card issue. Did you ever try singling out the RAM in different slots like I'm sure I mentioned in a previous post?

you mean, taking out each ram stick and running or testing the machine with each single stick. Yes I did that, I even tested each slot, they all work and the machine recognizes them.

im leaning toward the video card becuase this weekend, I tried to hook up the s-vid cable and run the computer to the tv.

I hit detect displays and the monitor went black, and never came back on how i got the old green light flashing ....
