Hi my macbook pro Lion on boot up showed a gray screen with a spinning gear and i followed all the steps on the apple support page up until point where i needed the install disk, am i current on holiday and dont have access to the install disc. Is it possible to create an a bootable install disc. even if its an earlier version i dont mind as long as my laptop boot & i can use it.

thanks in advance

I do not use Lion but is not the whole point of it that it has a "recovery partition?"

If that is true, restart holding the "Option" key . . . choose the recovery partition--you will see your normal hard drive and, I assume, another "HD." Use that to access repair.

Sorry, I do not use Lion but I hate to see a :) user in pain. Consider the advice of a thread I made Here

In LION (10.7.x) just restart and upon that restart just hold down the 'option/alt' key before the "bong" sounds and hold down the 'option/alt' ket until a seclection of the Recovery partition shows up. Then do repairs on your startup partition to see if that helps.
