Well, my Mac is acting a bit strange.

Last I can remember, I was using the pod2go software, when I got one of those darkened screens in English, German, Japanese where it tells me I need to restart the computer.

I did that, but when I log back in to my account, all I get is my wallpaper, the dock and the spinning lollipop thing.

Now, I have ran the Apple Disk Utility CD and DiskWarrior, but both have had no positive effect.
Errors
Apple Utility:
"Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)"
&
DiskWarrior:
Some error message about it not being able to complete the task.

What I'm wondering now is, is there any way you guys can think of to pull some files off it before I reformat and reinstall OS X?
I'm thinking like something I can boot off a CD to get in there and transfer stuff to a FTP or my iPod....
I have a lot of stuff on their I'd rather not lose, but a working computer is better than one that doesn't work. ;)

Don't worry about this thread, I went ahead ereased the disk.
But I have a few questions about that now.

Does anyone know of a page that takes you step by step on how to reinstall the OS on a freshly blanked disk?

Or can anyone explain why it is that after I "erased" my HD from the Disk Utility menu I'm not able to install it to the HD?
It gives the the HD image with a little red exclamation mark sign when I'm trying to reinstall the OS.

Ah, you can't use the 10.3 Upgrade disks to install a clean system on an erased drive. The 10.3 Upgrade disks require that an upgradable OS (10.2, I believe) already be present on the drive so that it can upgrade it to 10.3.

Do you have the disks that came with the G5? If so, look for one called "Software Restore." That one should work.
