How can I use my 10.2 on my old iMac?

I own a powerbook g4 and an old bondi iMac. I'd like to install the os x that came with my powerbook onto the iMac only so that I can use a wireless adapter. How can I get os x (10.2) which is on dvd, onto my iMac!

Thanks for any ideas

The only way to legally do it is to purchase a copy of Jaguar for your iMac.

since i've purchased the license for both os x and os 9, i feel it's not beyond reason to use the copy of os x, which i own, on my other apple product. this "fuzzy" interpretation of what's legal and what's fair is commonplace.

so, i guess i'm looking for a way to "illegally" get my os x onto my old imac.

"This License allow you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time..."
from the Apple Computer Software License Agreement for Mac OS X Single User License.
Seems fairly 'non-fuzzy' without interpretation.

But, one COULD remove the hard drive from the old iMac, install same hard drive into a system that could use a DVD installer disk, and assuming it will install on a different Mac model (some won't). Then return the hard drive to the iMac, and assuming you have enough RAM installed and assuming there's no problem involving using the first 8 GB of drive space for the OS X booting partition - yes' it's simple to do! :)

Definitely illegal, yes.

However: if you have purchased 10.3 and have 10.3 loaded on your PowerBook, then you can legally use the disks that came with your PowerBook to put the older 10.2 system on your iMac. That is, if you can find a way of making that DVD bootable on the iMac (or did your PowerBook come with CDs?).

Jaguar is available on e-bay - typically $20 -30

Pacifist will help you extract the packages from your dvd, then you could run them from an external drive, once all the legal issues are resolved.

I'll get a copy from eBay. Thanks folks.
