How come there is no CD icon for CDs and DVDs

In system prefs, when i open it up (panther 10.3.2), the CD and DVDs icon hasnt showed up. It looks blank. How do I get it back to normal?

Try quitting System Preferences, then look in /Users/(your username)/Library/Caches and find the file "com.apple.preferencepanes.cache" and drag it to the trash. Empty the trash, start up System Preferences again and see if that helps.
